Gebhardt was founded in the Czech Republic in 1991 initially as a bike servicing business.

However in 1993 they began producing chainrings to fill a void in the market, and in 1995 began distributing their chainrings throughout Germany. Demand for their products saw Gebhardt quickly expand their production capabilities, with chainring production becoming the core of their business. The superior quality of their product was quickly realised by the pro peleton, with riders such as Richard Virenque replacing his standard chainrings with Gerbhardt’s products.

They currently distribute their products throughout Europe and the UK, and now in Australia through D&T Sport. They can produce chainrings for road, track, triathlon and time-trial disciplines, in sizes from 34 to 70 teeth to suit all bolt patterns. They can also produce custom made cranks from 165–185 cm.
