Project II. – MTB Light Bike
Project III – MTB Light Bike One of the most discussed aspects of modern bicycles is weight. Many companies sacrifice their frames performance in pursuit of lighter bikes. However Duratec realise that overall performance of a bike is a combination of both low weight and optimal power transfer. A light bike is of no advantage if power is lost through a flexible frame. As such, Duratec have spent considerable time to develop a light bike without compromising the frames performance. The result – A complete mountain bike with a weight of only 9.08 kg (without pedals). The frame is the RASS CC2 (1 340 g), which is handmade from a complex mix of Aluminium, Carbon, Boron, Kevlar and Fibreglass. Similarly the components have been chosen for their light weight with uncompromised performance: Forks – Rock Shox Reba Race Pushlock (1 610 g), Handlebars – Syntace Duraflight (130 g), Stem – Syntace Force (134 g), Groupset including disc brakes – Shimano XTR, Seatpost – Syntace P6 Carbon (233 g), Saddle – Selle Italia SLK Flow Gel (240 g), Wheelset – TUFO XC LP with TUFO XC tubeless tyres. The high component specification and low weight of this MTB makes this the ideal bike for professional Cross Country, Marathon and Adventure races. The custom-made nature of this bicycle also allows the bike to be built according to the customers specifications and budget.
Duratec BIKINI bike
Duratec has released a limited edition of women’s specific mountain bikes. The women’s “BIKINI” range is offered in their Career C14, Sonix CX4, Canner CC1 and even the carbon Rass CC2 models.
Women’s mountain biking is currently undergoing huge growth across Europe, but until now no manufacturer has actually developed bikes specifically for women. Yes, manufacturers have marketed ‘women’s’ bikes, but there is more to it than simply taking a small men’s frame and painting it pink. Women’s physical geometry is different than men’s, and their bike geometry needs to be also. Duratec have spend considerable time developing their women’s specific geometry, and now are proud to release the BIKINI range of mountain bikes.
Each frame is individually handmade in Europe to the highest levels of quality. Women’s paint schemes have been designed to advertise the special nature of these bikes, and they are available in pink, red and blue. Finally women do not have to adapt men’s or ‘unisex’ bikes to suit their needs, but can now have a bike designed especially for them.
